SIGMA Marketing Group wins Best of Web Award

March 11, 2008, Rochester, NY —SIGMA Marketing Group, an industry leader in knowledge-based marketing, won the top award for best overall web site in the non-profit/human services category at the Rochester Business Journal’s 11th annual Best of Web competition.

SIGMA acted as the volunteer marketing team that assisted the Water Education Collaborative (WEC) and the Advertising Council of Rochester in developing a multimedia awareness campaign to improve water quality education in the community.

The winning H20 Hero web site, created by SIGMA’s creative team:  Barb Cote, Tom Cunningham and Richard Whitesell, also won the bronze award for Best Overall web site of 2008—besting 22 finalists and hundreds of entrants. SIGMA credited the terrific team of creative volunteers who helped make the animation-filled web site a success – especially well-known Rochester illustrator and animator David Cowles, who created the character of H20 Hero, and the musical team of Rob and Kelly Reed, who created the songs and music on the site and the accompanying commercials.

Four judges, including local executives and professors, individually evaluated the finalists' web sites based on site content, usefulness, design quality, e-commerce and likelihood of drawing repeat visits. Rochester Business Journal launched its annual Best of the Web competition in 1996 to spotlight the top efforts among area business on the World Wide Web.
